We offer the complete sale, purchase and registration service to ship owners.
From luxury yachts and cargo barges, to state of the art catamarans or sales for scrap, our knowledge is founded in experience of the issues and the risks facing a purchaser or a seller of valuable and moveable assets.
We will advise on every stage of the process from the broker's approach, through drafting and negotiation of the Memorandum of Agreement, to documentary compliance and vessel readiness, and the mechanics of payment to allow simultaneous financial closing and technical handover of the ship anywhere in the world.
Closely linked to the result of a successful sale or purchase is our practical ability to co-ordinate and manage the registration and de-registration of the vessel. We also have unique and extensive experience in the dual registration of vessels on behalf of owners and their lenders, particularly in the Caspian Sea region.
Richard Coles is the author of "Ship Registration Law and Practice", widely regarded as the user's manual for this specialist area, and our team has first hand working knowledge of offshore registration in the UK and in many popular registries worldwide, including:
- Antigua and Barbuda
- Azerbaijan
- Cambodia
- Cayman Islands
- Jamaica
- Kazakhstan
- Netherlands Antilles
- Panama
- St Vincent and Grenadines
Highlights:
- Acting for owners in the purchase and re-registration of a fleet of thirteen vessels registered in Cambodia and Mongolia from a Turkish joint venture.
- Advising the Production Sharing Agreement consortium in the Republic of Kazakhstan upon issues arising in connection with dual registration of a fleet of twenty vessels.
- Advising clients in the construction, purchase delivery and registration of eighteen newbuild vessels in the space of 12 months.
